RE: portable and UPS shipable camper, Teal camper

I like that idea. Once into production, the price (whatever it is) should come down. If you get a dent, replace the panel. Want more windows? Want it longer? Do your own thing? Lots and lots of potential.

RE: Best Foods (Hellmans) Mayonnaise

Years ago, a professional caterer said he loved Hellman's because he could freeze with it.
Recently, Cook's Country(or America's Test Kitchen) said the danger in potato salad at picnics was not the mayo, but the potatoes.

RE: Vinegar based BBQ Sauce??

Bobby Flay did a Throwdown against a Raleigh BBQer. To start, Bobby stated it was a NC BBQ. Guess he didn't understand exactly what NC BBQ was. Lost big time.

RE: Cats and diabetes?

To die in your sleep is the best way to go. My Sam went into a diabetic coma. After 5 hours with no improvement, the decision was made. At least it was a clear decision. And I'm so grateful she was at the vets when it happened.

RE: Odd sandwiches?

This one I got from Paula Deen.
Sliced apples, red onions, bacon, and cheddar on crusty Italian bread. My new favorite.
Anyone else read the Archie McNally series by Lawrence Sanders? The housekeeper always made Archie the best sounding sandwiches. I wonder if anyone has compiled the recipes.

RE: Need a new Crock Pot / Slow Cooker - Suggestions?

I seem to only use my crockpot to cook pot roast and, for that, I highly recommend an oval shape.
If you are going to buy only one, then bigger is better.

RE: Cocktail Sauce- Answered

I made cocktail sauce again yesterday. Before adding the lemon juice, I took out two samples. One with no lemon. The other with a powdered lemon(LemonTime).
fordsooperdooty was right. It must be the pectin in the lemon that gels. The powdered lemon sample also did not gel. The flavor was alright, but a little granular.
Thanks for all your replies.

RE: RV Parks Charging for Cats?

Way back in my youth, I was about to sign a lease when I was informed I had to pay $20 extra A MONTH for my cat. I was flaggergasted. A month? A cleaning deposit I understand. A final walk through to access damage, I understand. But $20 A MONTH rent? Well, $20 was like a $1000 to me so I had to find another apartment.

RE: Single Serve Desserts - Revised Opinion

How hard does the yogurt freeze? Does the yogurt have to be a "whipped" type?

RE: Cocktail Sauce- Answered

I don't think it's the ketchup. Afterall, it's stored in the fridge all the time. Possibly the fridge at the beach is colder. Though, the last time was a new different fridge. At home, I make it up as the shrimp are boiling and discard the leftovers. Stirring does not work. I had to "chop" it. Maybe zapping it in the micro? Will have to experiment next time.

Cocktail Sauce- Answered

I have made my own cocktail sauce since forever. Twice recently, I have made it for the beach, packed in a cooler and then in the fridge there. The next day it was gelled. What could cause that?
Sauce is just ketchup, lemon, Worchestershire and horseradish. Can't remember if I've ever had it happen at home.

Single Serve Desserts - Revised Opinion

After my success with freezing banana pudding, I tried freezing another favorite. My Mom called this Jailbird dessert. We loved it.
Tried freezing more banana pudding. Results were disastrous.
Box of Nabisco "famous" chocolate wafers. My grocery stocks it with the ice cream cones and toppings. Yellow box.
Pint of whipping cream, whipped and sweetened to your liking.
Take a wafer. Put on a dollop of whipped cream. Top with another wafer. Another dollop. Another wafer. However long a stack you want. I usually compress with about 1/2" between wafers. Stack horizontally or vertically in a container or dish. Cover and refridgerate at least 8 hours for the wafers to soften.
I froze several single serving. Very pleased with the thawed dessert.

RE: Kitty litter - clay vs. clumping

On the otherhand, SWEAT has a fragrence I couldn't stand.
I use Arm&Hammer Essentials. To me, it's less dusty. But doesn't sift well. So I add a scoop of clay and stir.
Not sure anything will eleiminate the tracking of any litter. Be prepared to vacuum often.

RE: Check Those Boobies

As cat owners, are we likely to find anything by doing a breast exam?
I suppose the annual physical is still the best chance of finding anything.

Check Those Boobies

Yesterday, my neighbors cat was diagnosed with breast cancer. I never gave that much thought before. But it happens. So give them a "feel" next time you pet.
