RE: I need advice about the Droid/Verizon

Don't know technical details of how he does it, but DD's boyfriend has a Droid with Verizon that he tethers to his laptop. Saw him doing it this past weekend in our MH while camping.

RE: insecure or inconsiderate

...And oh! We have a swimming pool! Do you have any idea how absolutely awesome it is to have a swimming party in the DARK under a full moon! Without swimsuits!?!?! :B :B :B

RE: insecure or inconsiderate

Forgot and left our "porch light" on Fri this past weekend when camping. Why assume the worst in someone?

RE: Easy Curtain

Every time I try to google Easy Curtain my computer locks up. Is there another way to contact them? That's really weird! Try link below... Easy Curtain website (http://www.easycurtain.net/)

RE: how many watts per circuit

I've ran a separate heavy duty extension cord in around slide to run an additional heater. I plugged it into the 20amp outlet on power pole. I've read of some rv.net'ers that install an outlet connected to extension cord to make this a permanent feature.

RE: Installing a door in dinette booth for easier access (ideas)

For some reason only one of our benches has door on end. I'm planning on using one of the doors that came off the old TV cabinet on end of the other bench. You can see door on bench closest to sofa in pic below. http://lh6.ggpht.com/_dTRF3JOpgjc/Sos0Dt4ALrI/AAAAAAAACGE/VYiz0LNKh3o/s800/66495_3.jpg

RE: Levels in cab...

Do not see a need for them on the outside. I put larger graduated type like like these on outside so if I do need to block under tires it isn't a trial and error attempt. I had them on our 5'er and never had to pull off blocks and try again. They were useful the 2 times I needed to use blocks to get level. There was no way to get anywhere near level by repositioning in the sites we were in. I used smaller ones like these inside on dash and drivers door.

Levels in cab...

Following advice here, I installed small levelers in the cab of our MH soon after we got it last August. I went ahead and installed the larger graduated levels on outside. The ones in cab make finding a level (or nearly level) spot within a campsite easy! When I first pulled into site this past weekend on a trip to Skidaway Island State Park near Savannah the side/side level was showing the left was too low. I did a few back up/pull up adjustments and found a dead on level spot about 12" to right of where I had originally stopped...no need for blocks :B :B :B We've been able to do same 3 of the 4 other trips we've taken MH out. Only 1 time have I had to use leveling blocks (not counting the tailgating trips where I have to use them due to slope of parking lot). Just a Thank You to all here that offer such great advice!!!

RE: Digital channels

Having just replaced TV in MH, I'm only now trying to receive digital channels. One thing I've learned from a coworker that uses over-the-air at home is the "aim" of the antenna is very important. Its possible when you lowered the antenna it just happened to point in better direction? He gave me website, TV Fool, where you can put in location and get direction to aim antenna for most/best reception.

RE: Buy land for weekending?

Here in rural Georgia lots of folks do that for deer hunting camps. A friend that doesn't hunt has about 80 acres and we've camped there several times. He put an older TT on site he used for a few years. Now, he's built a small log cabin to spend weekends in. His land is only about 15 miles from house though.

RE: Securing four dining chairs for travel..

Our 5'er had a free standing dinette. The table had 2 pedestal legs on each end. Attached to the legs were short pieces of wood with kinda of a hook cut into the end. The front cross brace on the chairs would hang over these hooks to hold them in place. The short pieces of wood were attached to the leg so they could twist out of the way when using dinette so your legs wouldn't hit them. I all the years of travel with 5'er, the chairs had never been jostled out of place when we arrived at campground. Hope these explanation made sense! It was really a simple setup but very difficult to explain.

RE: leveling

I don't have levelers but from what I've gather reading up on them, if you put blocks under the levelers be careful that you don't lift your tires off the ground...especially the rear ones with parking brake. One post I had read said to also drive up onto same size block as you put under the leveler. Again, no experience with this, just what I've read here.

RE: a little Organization help, please

I bought a white wire metal closet shelf and installed it in our upper cabinet in galley area. It was a little tight installing it inside another cabinet but it works great. It is mounted to the wall inside cabinet so no extra weight is put on the original cabinet. We are still trying to figure out how to best use the narrow, deep pantry in MH. I've thought about a pull-out pantry but the inside of cabinet is about 2 to 3 inches wider than the door and that would become wasted space with a pull-out. And, I can't make door wider because that is where the accordion divider is for separating shower/bedroom from living area. It gets used a lot. When we had 5'er, we'd pull everything out of the cabinets 2 or 3 times per year and re-arrange the storage. It just always seemed to us it could be organized better.

RE: Newbie question, do you plan meals or wing it?

We will plan for up to a week in advance of what we may want to eat. However, we do not plan ahead on when we will eat it.:) Us too, but that then leads to "what do you want to eat? - I don't know, what do YOU want to eat.... "Doesn't matter, whatever you want." "How about pizza?" "Nah, I don't want pizza." "Well, what do you want then?" "Don't know...doesn't really matter to me." Finishing off the usually conversation :B :B :B

RE: Newbie question, do you plan meals or wing it?

Like many others, we make a plan and shop based on plan but always have some alternative/backup items. We do keep staples stocked in RV so shopping is usually meat & other fresh items. Lots of the deviation is because we overcook a previous meal and have left-overs instead of the planned menu. Or, cook too big a breakfast and forgo lunch for an early supper.

RE: Build/install a spice rack

sreeder, I didn't measure cabinet height but I'd guess around 19" or 20". The spice rack it 12.5" from bottom to top. My original plan was to build it 3" taller (based on a purchased metal spice rack we have in house) but had to cut it down to fit. Also, was originally going to put it behind the cook top but the lower microwave/exhaust vent would've interfered with the top shelf.
