RE: What is your campfire profile?

Every camp trip.. A camp fire is the first thing I work on after setting up and I keep it going the entire time. We enjoy it at night, stoke it up in the morning, sometimes I cook breakfast over it, and all ways keep a log on to keep it going. I can't even imagin going camping and not having a fire. The last trip out, I bought a big ham and a foil pan,Loaded the pan with pineaple and syrup and let that ham cook all day, We munched on it all weekend. We had many visitor's that weekend. Even a Park ranger or two.......

RE: Reese 5th Wheel slider hitch

I am thinking of changing (or trading ) mine to a stationary reese myself.
I think it may be less noisy and less maintenance
This is what I have now and have yet to need it...

RE: Towing 5th wheel with short bed

Lots of good information.
I also have a manual slider and have yet to use it.
I also have the extended pin box so that helps.
I just seem to squat a little more than I like loaded.
I think I will go with the timbrens and call it day.

RE: Towing 5th wheel with short bed

Just wondering how many tow their 5th wheeel with a 3/4 ton short bed and how heavy is your 5th wheel? What draw backs have you found?
What if anthing have have you done to beef it up.
Glanced at the other posts.
Lots towing with 3/4 ton trucks.
What do you mean by 'beef it up'? This implies you feel they are inferior to something. A short bed will be lighter than a long bed just by nature of the design.
Short bed trucks should have slider hitches. Not required but recommended. Many tow without slider hitches, but there may be times when needed.
Not trying to imply anything... Just asking questions
I am considering timbrens and just wondered if anyone felt the need for the extra help....

RE: Looking for tow vehical advice and experience's

Hmmm... switching from a diesel dually crew cab to a 3/4-ton gasser ext'd cab short bed?
Doesn't make much sense.
You'll end up with a less capable truck that gets worse gas mileage and has less space in the bed and cab, plus another new truck payment to make! Sounds like an all-around lose-lose situation to me!
With only 3 years of use on that diesel, there are many years of life left in it and it'll probly be paid off soon too.
Not really what I was asking about but....
I wont have a monthly payment
Hey, I'm not real happy about it myself but you do what you got to do.
It'll be OK.... Life will turn around again.. soon I hope.....

Looking for tow vehical advice and experience's

Just asking, How many of you are towing with this truck?
Chevy 2500 HD Short Bed Extended Cab 4x4 8.1 ltr. Alsion 5 speed auto or 6.0 ltr.
And could you post pictures of your rig hooked up and weights ?
Had to sell my dually (due to job loss, corp downsizing)
Making a big decision soon and just doing research in advance.
Any comments on the towing experience would be helpfull
Thanks
Paul

RE: 2004 Chevy 2500 HD 8.1 ltr. w/Allison trans

Thanks all
We are weekend warriors at best and with the current economy we will probably only be going 1 or 2 times a month. We only go to local camp grounds which are 20 to 60 miles from home with an occaional 100 mile trip to Mohican State Park maybe 1 time a year. I figure with the 3.73 rear end I might get better milage as a daily driver for now.
