RE: can't stand the rattles

Looks like everyone has the same rattles that we have had over the years.. Good suggestions by all. For the silverware drawer,, we have our silverware in the traditional plastic tray but it rests on a foam rubber pad we picked up somewhere that dampens the shaking and the silverware is not a problem. Used to hear it jump when we hit some road bumps... I have also put some additional foam strips around the door housing to cut down on the screeen door rattles and that helps some.

Which Griffin FM transmitter for ipods is the best

I do not have an Aux port on our Class C radio so I want to get and FM transmitter to play the music and audiobooks from our ipods (Nano, Classic and Touch).
Looking online there seems to be various models and the prices seem to run from about $24 to about $75.
Which model do you like and why? What features are important?
I want a model that will transmit to the FM radio and will charge the ipod from the cigarette lighter. What else should I be looking for to make it easier to use and more convenient and reliable?
Thanks in advance for your feedback.

RE: Hey Illinois travelers....... No more 55MPH limit

Way to go... Sure glad they have scrapped that crazy limit of 55 for Motorhomes..... Did not make any sense.
Also glad that my Class C wide-body (102") is now legal also....
Never had a problem with it over the past 10 years but it was always a concern.

RE: Thinking of fulltime RVing to stretch retirement funds

Fezziwig,
Glad that you have it all figured out!!!!! Way to go... If you have to stretch your funds during retirement full timing you might also want to check out work-camping.... Lots of folks work part time at private or public parks to reduce their costs and maybe even earn some extra bucks....
Enjoy !!!!

RE: Internet Explorer 8 problems when trying to post a reply

Well I tried reinstalling IE 8 and that did not resolve the problem. I then tried using the emulate IE7 feature of IE 8 but that did not help either. I finally uninstalled IE8 and reverted back to IE7 and all is now well. Not sure what caused the problem but I am happy using IE7 for now.

Insurance while RV is in storage ??

Should I call my insurance guy and tell him to put my Class C RV down as being "in storage" so my insurance costs are reduced while I am not actually driving it over the next 4-5 months?
I have it parked on a lot that a mechanic rents out to RV'rs and boats, etc... Figure there will not be a lot of activity around it but there could be some. Not sure what would happen if someone bumped into my rig.:E
If so, and someone damages it - is it worth it to save some insurance bucks...??
From what I understand, having it listed as being in storage means you are still covered for theft and some other hazards like storm damage, etc.... Not sure you would be covered for an impact from another vehicle while it is sitting in storage. Anyone know the rules here?

RE: Thinking of fulltime RVing to stretch retirement funds

Fezziwig,
To add my 2 cents.... Check out the larger Class C rigs as they can be repaired more cheaply than some of the large Class A's. A friend of mine told me that Class A's tend to be very customized and it is harder to get the right parts and get them repaired. I know my Ford chassis is pretty standard and I can go into any Ford dealership for parts and most of them for repairs -- sepending on their repair bays, doors, etc....
Also, try to have your rig setup for being able to do a lot of boondocking... Camping without electric as there are many sites that you can park in for free or for a few dollars with a Golden Age pass if you are self contained. Many folks have several batteries and solar panels on their roofs so they can recharge their batteries on sunny days.
If you want to camp cheaply there are ways to do it... Seems like a lot of folks like the FT lifestyle but I still like to have a stick house to come home to.

Internet Explorer 8 problems when trying to post a reply

I made the mistake of agreeing to download and update Internet Explorer 8 on one of our home computers and now it is hanging up with an error when I try to post a reply to a topic. This is very frustrating. I am hoping that I do not have to remove it and start all over again with an older version.
Is anyone else encountering any problems with Internet Explorer 8?
If you are, you may not be able to reply to this message unless you have multiple computers :B
From what I have read Microsoft may have done things right in getting Windows 7 shipped out but maybe they have screwed up with Internet Explorer..

RE: So Sad !!! Winterized our Class C today....

Sad but true..... Our summer was cool this year and our fall was not as long as it should have been. Cold and rainy weather moved into our area pretty fast this year.... I paid for storage till March and am hoping maybe we get an early/nice spring so we can be on the go again.... Glad I was able to get the waxing done before it got really nasty around here.

RE: So Sad !!! Winterized our Class C today....

Gary,
Our rig does not have a heated basement, has single pane windows and is not the greatest for cold weather camping. We are also not into winter sports..
Stored our rig today for the winter. Found a nice place for $30 a month where it is on blacktop and secure.
