RE: Resumes

The less paperwork the better....make it brief, add some flair & always include a picture of yourself. Campgrounds are in the people business and personality, looks & team players are attributes that will get you jobs almost anywhere. I combine our work experience so within a few paragraphs, they have an overview of the two of us. Say right away what you want to do and what you don't do (Clean bathrooms) it saves lots of time.

RE: South Dakota Vehicle Registration

We have our truck and fifth wheel registered in SD and one is $40 and the other is $60...I forget which is which every year but $100 a year is cheap with no sales tax or personal property tax...then SD is rated 48th in nation on insurance costs so my insurance dropped considerably switching to SD.

RE: Reserve America Fees

Just wondering what the total price you ended up paying....better than the $35-$50 at a KOA or Jellystone Park?

RE: route to ouray

The easiest route is from the North. Coming from the South you'll be driving the Million Dollar Hwy which has several sections of 15 mph, sharp curves and no guardrails. Where the whilte line is on the hwy is where the dropoff starts, 500-1000 feet down. It's a white knuckle road that scares many people and steep downgrade that smokes brakes coming into Ouray.

RE: campground listings

You can break all the campgrounds down by state. Google : "Campground" "Idaho" "Web pages" This will list all the campgrounds in Idaho that have a web page. For each state just change the state....if you're thinking of staying at a campground and would like to see what people say about it...www.rvparkreviews.com

RE: sewer lines, open or closed?

If you leave the black tank valve open, you will end up with a large pile of poop just below your stool. You'll be using wires and pressure water to try and break it down.
Keep the valve closed and use lots & lots of water every time you flush. When the tank is usually full, the force of all that water trying to get out the hole with suck the majority of waste & paper with it. If you have a flusher, use it every time also. If you feel you have a build up and can't get waste from the sides and bottom of the tank, dump two small bags of ice cubes down the stool and add 10-15 gallons of water. Drive to your next camping location as all that sloshing of ice cubes around in the tank will break apart waste build up yet will melt in a short period of time. Arrive at your next campground, hook up to sewer and empty the tank.

RE: Snowbirds Golf

Coast to Coast is a membership camping where you have to be a member of a home park (campground) and pay the annual membership fees that can range from $250 - $1500 per year. Usually you then get 30 days free camping at that park but discount fees at other coast to coast parks across the country...usually around $10 a night. You have an initial entrance fee to join coast to coast than a annual fee for that also. If you're a full timer and don't return to the home park, you're paying membership fees to that home park just for the discount fees staying at other coast to coast parks. Coast to coast isn't everywhere so many times you can't use the discounted fees. Then most have a time limit of 10 days maximum to stay, you then have to leave..not good if you're wintering for several months in the south.

RE: How can I find my trailer weight?

I found out, whatever is posted as far as weight, is way light. Dry weight is what the trailer weighs before they add all the extras..air conditioning, insulated windows, satellite dish, etc. It's when you finally can take it to a weigh station, unhook and have it weighed, will you know for sure.

RE: Why Workamp?

We don't Workcamp to make money like a regular job. It's a little bonus that's added to the value of the site, free laundry, propane, WiFi and a few other perks. I don't expect anything above min wage and some places we don't get paid anything. If you really have to make $10-$12 an hour to survive, you really shouldn't be workcamping but get a regular job at a big corporation. Anything that pays more than min wage is almost not available at a campground.

RE: Overweight

If you're pulling a 12,000-15,000 trailer with a 1/2 truck or a truck that has a low weight rating...if you're in an accident, you'll almost always get a ticket because they feel if you had a proper truck, you could have stopped in time, avoided wrecking in some way if your truck was rated to the weight being pulled.

You're right, I spend my summers in Minnesota, Wisconsin or Michigan. I winter in Arizona but don't pay for electricity...we volunteer at a park so site & fees are taken care of.

RE: black water valve

I open my valve & drill a small hole in the middle of the flat area of the valve. I screw in a grease zerk & shoot grease into the slide area...work it back and forth....when it feels sluggish, I shoot a little more grease....doesn't hurt any seals, nothing to tear apart.

RE: Waste Tank Discharge

Water, Water, Water...you can never use enough water in your black tank. Once you have a mound below your toilet, it takes a lot of work to break it down. When I want to break down waste that I think has built up in my tank, I pour two bags of ice cubes down my toilet along with about 20 gallons of water...take off and drive to my next stopping point....hook up my hose and dump the tank. I always refill my toilet bowl twice after flushing to make sure I have lots of water in my tank...when I open my valve the force of all that water trying to get out the drain, sucks waste & paper with it.

Nope, RV's only...I agree that it will lead to hunting, motorcycles, quilting, woodcrafts that so many RV'rs enjoy doing. Leave the "other" topics to Facebook & Twitter...We have enough topics now related to RVing.
