RE: Bulb and Socket Kit on Honda CRV

OK, thanks for the replies. I had intended to install this kit myself, just wanted to make sure it was workable. GM

RE: Oklahoma RV trip ideas

Gun museum in Claremore (Home of Will Rogers), every type of handgun and rifle ever made, I think. In Oklahoma City, Cowboy Hall of Fame (may be called the Western Heritage Museum now); Memorial to the Murrah Building bombing; if in early June, Red Earth (All Native American art show, about 250 or so artists from all over the US, Canada, some from S. America, plus championship dancing; various spots on old US-66; Wichita Game Preserve near Lawton, buffalo, longhorns, elk, deer, etc., running wild; Native American culture everywhere; powwows somewhere every weekend. Oklahoma has a varying topography - flat plains to the west, mountains (not real big ones) in the SE, national forests, hills, water sports. Oklahoma has more shoreline than the entire east coast and the Gulf of Mexico combined. Gilcrease Museum in Tulsa; Woolaroc Museum in Bartlesville; various horse shows at the Fair Grounds in Oklahoma City... And all of Oklahoma is in Tornado Alley, not just the Panhandle. Sorry 'bout that. :) GM

RE: Columbia River - Bonneville Dam Area

We stayed at Ainsworth State Park. Also took a two-hour paddleboat ride up and down the river. Scenic route 30 starts at Ainsworth, IIRC. Well worth a trip in the toad, not the MH.

RE: Shingles Home Remedies

I just googled "listerine as relief from shingles" and came up with several testimonials. GM

RE: Shingles Home Remedies

This topic came up recently on an Air Force forum I frequent. One participant used listorine for his 90-plus mother, said it did wonders. I have no reason whatsoever to doubt this man. GM

RE: US-64/Murphy, NC to Ocoee, TN

Went to the NC DOT site which states that US-64 will be closed for "several weeks." Looking for an alternate route. GM

I-40 is closed in N. Carolina, near the Tennessee border. The portion I will be on is open. GM

US-64/Murphy, NC to Ocoee, TN

I came through here last Wednesday heading east and found I-64 closed between these two locations due to a rock slide. Had to detour and travel some really twisty roads. Fortunately, I was in my Jeep, not the RV. I'll be heading back west next Saturday, planning to go through Chattanooga, then north to I-40 in Nashville to home. Are there any locals who know the status of US-64? I am currently in Hiawassee, Georgia. If 64 is closed, what is an alternate route from here to Chattanooga? Thanks much for your assistnce. GM

RE: Sweetheart VIII, Kerrville, TX, Feb. 11-14, 2010

Those of us remaining had a wonderful "Fat Tuesday" meal here at the resort and a few of us visited until the "lights dimmed". :B Again, we have had a really grand time here and unless I'm viewing the grass from the other side we will be back again next year. :) Well, that settles it for me! GM

Uh, Gottahaveit, you wanna be an Honorary Comanche as well? It can be arranged for a small fee, a mere pittance really. Of course, there are certain ancient, blessed and secret ceremonies through which you must pass. And a lot more benefits than being an Honorary Texican. McZippie: I apologize for taking your post in way that it was not intended. Meet me down the road somewhere and we'll tip a bit of firewater together. (Although my "firewater" these days is pretty much limited to Diet Coke) Lonnie

RE: Little Bighorn Battlefield

The monument to the Crow, Sioux, Cheyenne and Arapaho who died there, about 100, is circular with an opening on one side looking up toward the monument to the US Cavalry on Last Stand Hill. It is one warrior's tribute to another. Another great book is "Lakota Noon," which contains individual Indian accounts of the battle. These stories were known among the Indians for years; however, they would not tell them to outsiders for fear of reprisal. It wasn't until the '20s or '30s that these accounts became known to the white world. Most of what was written about Custer, and movies made about the incident prior to about 1970 or so are not very factual. Dee Brown's "Bury My Heart at Wounded Knee" was one of the first, if not the first, realistic account of history from the Indian's perspective. GM

RE: Installation of fixture to winterize MH

Much thanks for the replies. The first few years, I just blew out the lines and had no problems. Then, I started adding the antifreeze as an added precaution. I also received a PM from a source that sells the conversion kit. Since I am also buying a base plate from that source, I'll get the kit as well. Again, much thanks. BM

RE: 101 N. From San Francisco

I've made that trip in reverse a couple of times, once continuing through San Francisco, and once turning east just before SF. Beautiful drive, beautiful scenery. We were in a 34' Clsass A with a toad - no problems. Even drove through the Redwood Forest in N. California with no problem. The coastal drive is great, with many places to pull off and enjoy the area. GM
