RE: Replacing Truck Liner

Don't waste your money and time on Rhino liner..I had that in my old truck. Even though it was great with stuff not sliding around, it tore easily and they repaired the tear by smearing a tube of silicone type stuff over the tear. On my current truck I have line X and love it, it does allow stuff to slide more but very durable.

RE: GM to pay back Gov't loans by June.

Good news, if true....no doubt..good luck to GM.
Exactly, at least GM is going repay...Chrysler isn't even going to repay anything.

RE: Where has all the heat gone???

When I had no heat on my Ram50 truck, I flushed just the heater core in both directions a few times. I got lots of gunk out. I used 3' sections of new heater hose to hook up between the heater core and the water hose to make the connection easier. It wouldn't flush in the 'other' direction until I moved the temp selector to full hot. This saved me from replacing the heater core; where the whole dash has to come out. Don
I have done that in the past also...just remember not to use to much water pressure, or the core may let go.;)

RE: GM discontinues Duramax diesels?

Duramax with the allison transmission is what made me switch after being a Ford truck person for close to 20 years...
Good point - If the tranny is good enough for a tank - it is good enough for a tank.
That is your second reference to a tank. Which tank are you talking about? The Allison in the M1 Abrams is quite a bit different than the pickup trans. Same manufacturer is all. And what tank has a Duramax? Inquisitive minds would like to know! :)
Well it is not really a tank per se, but it is built like one......
Duramax, and all. ;)

Nice picture, where's the Duramax? I smell gasoline. If you look closely at the hood the Allison /Duramax badge is on it.;)

RE: GM/Isuzu joint venture that builds Duramax at risk

john&bet,
Pray tell what a 904 engine has to do with the pickup sized engines that concern RV'ers. Also, a couplt thousand max aircraft tow vehicles is so miniscule to the tens/hundreds of thousands of HumVees etc that are and have been used by the military. Dumb statements on your part to try to confuse the readers.
blacksea-7,
My post is accurate as I know so well. Been 40+ years of having been directly in the loop of the auto/pickup truck engineering world.
Nuff said!
And my response to you is... what ever you believe to be true, must be as I'm sure you believe it with all your heart...
Again, your information, technical knowledge etc are wrong... you weren't the only one there. I know someone else who was!
Black sea....Read post number 5...looks like he was right.;)

RE: Upcoming Scorpion Diesel More Complex Than Cummins/Duramax?

Nowhere in that article did it mention that the new Ford Scorpion is based off the baby Duramax 4.5, Ford copied a lot of ideas from it. I hope this engine does well for Ford, with the problems of the last 2 diesels...they could use it.
Problems with the last 2 diesels? I have the 6.4 and I'm thrilled. It rides outstanding, has great aesthetics inside and out. It pulls my toyhauler like a raped ape. Even better, I experienced the radiator leak, but other than that, No Problems. It is true that the fuel economy could be better, but considering the lift and 37" TOYOs on my truck, I'm even good with the fuel economy.
+1
What is wrong with the 6.4? Let me guess you "know a guy who know's a guy" that had a problem with a 6.4?
What ideas did Ford "copy"? I don't really see how anyone can say an engine was copied that never made it into production, but you can somehow.:R
Geesh...Don't get your panties in a wad..I wasn't bashing Ford But I do know people who have both the 6.0 and 6.4 and aren't happy with them. And since when does the engine have to be in production to copy it. Relax...enjoy your truck.

Because you may have it backwards?
I doubt it...Duramax's uses cast a iron block and aluminum heads...so does the new Ford engine, and they use other things the 4.5 Duramax was to use.

RE: Hope more effort went into the vehicle than that production

No wonder their broke. All that hype for forty miles of gas free driving and now the Pensylvania electric rates increase by 30 to 50%. No wonder were in the trouble were in. Try Aptera at 300mpg half the money.
Thanks...but no thanks, I at least want to have a fighting chance to survive a collision . That thing looks like a big wheel on steriods.;)

RE: Ford Dodge or Chevrolet Six Speed

Why would they make a "direct copy"? Wouldn't they use the Allison instead of a copy?
It makes perfect sense to copy the functionality of the Allison and produce it in-house rather than pay an outside supplier. Good business. Good transmission. I think GM is perfectly capable of producing a quality transmission, even if they had to copy one.
GM owns Allison, there is no outside supplier.;)
