RE: How fast do you tow?

I don't worry about going to fast for the tires, but I do keep the speed down for better gas mileage.
It makes a HUGE difference there.

RE: Should WDH frame mounts move?????

They can be welded, but if installed properly they won't move.
Having said that, my local dealer welds them all now because I guess so many people were bringing them back.
If you read the EQUAL-izer instructions, and follow them to the letter, you can tighten them yourself. Before doing that however, check to make sure they weren't over-tightened and are bent (curved around the frame). In the instructions it says you can turn them around and tighten them, but don't. Take them backk to the dealer and have them replace the brackets.

Prodigy P3 owners.

I just haven't been happy with my Reese controller and I am going to buy a Prodigy.
I figured why not spend a little extra and get the P3.
Would those of you who have the P3 recommend it (is it worth the extra money)?
Also, on RVW's site they show a GM wiring harness and a mounting bracket. I don't think I need the harness since I already have another controller mounted.
And does it not come with a mounting bracket? Do I really need to spend another $10.00 for that? Or maybe I could use the bracket for my Reese?
TIA

RE: Comparing the Jayco 23-b and the 23-j

Honestly, I used to have a 1999 Suburban and now I have a 2009 Yukon XL.
I have no problems towing my 23J, and I would put that 1999 Suburban and it's towing capabilities up against my 2009 Yukon XL any day of the week.
I used to tow my 5000lb boat out of the water at Lake Of The Ozarks up a 40degree grade on one particular boat ramp.
You would have no problems, trust me.

RE: Just purchased Jayco 23J

We tow ours with a 2009 Yukon XL. The best piece of advice I can give you on towing is to keep your speed down unless you want to spend a lot of money on gas.
If I keep it as 65MPH I can get almost 10MPG.
If I go up to 75MPH, I'm lucky to get 6MPG.
Needless to say I keep it down around 65MPH these days.

RE: When is weight distribution needed?

I have a 2009 Yukon XL, towing a 23J.
Yes, you need a WDH.
This is my fourth Yukon XL/Suburban. They used to have suspensions like trucks. Now they have suspensions like soccer Mom SUVs. (they are very soft).
Power-wise, you will have no problem pulling the 23J.

RE: color of stain on Jayco

All you have to do is take one of the drawers out and take it to Lowes.
They will match it exactly.
I had a spindle break on our stairway railing and need an exact match.
They did it. It matches exactly.

RE: Do you have to pull out the beds?

Build a removable leg out of pvc pipe and use it under the table as support when used for sleeping.I,m 200lbs and I caused mine to bow after a couple of nights.
Thanks for that info.
I was wondering about this.

RE: Trading a Jayco 23B for a Jayco 23J - your thoughts

This is a bit off topic but....I have a 23B but loved the 23J when I saw it. BUT, where do you store sewer hose, extension cords, trailer set-up stuff? In the 23B I have the narrow external storage which is limiting but better than nothing.
There is a very large storage unit on the "driver's" side. It is behind the galley cabinets, and is very tall. I haven't setup any way of stacking things, but even so I keep 2 - 50' 20amp cords, 25' water hose, a ton of leveling blocks and chocks, the step to stand on to open the doors, and a ton of other misc. tools and things.
The sewer hose of course goes in the bumper.

RE: Anybody have a 2009 Jayco that leaves the tenting attached?

No problem ML!
Do you know what I am saying though?
It seems like you could just fold up the flap that covers the ends and sides, but leave the velcro attached and fold it in.
Maybe not.
I haven't looked at how the 2010s fold up to see if it is really that much different.

RE: ready to order a 23J but have a question

I have the RVQ. It was part of the package on my 23J, and I didn't have a choice.
I would agree that it is kind of a piece of junk.
I do use it though and it works fine for a small gas grill.

RE: Anybody have a 2009 Jayco that leaves the tenting attached?

They are the external locks, and the tenting shouldn't be folded against the seal if you were careful.
Thanks Mountain Lover for the input, sounds like you are doing it no problem.
And Thanks to you Larry. I thought that was the case with the 2010s.
I wish that were true with mine. I worry about the little ones falling out the bunk ends. I may do a mod to add more snaps instead of just the 3 on the end that I currently have.

Anybody have a 2009 Jayco that leaves the tenting attached?

Our dealer told us to pull the velcro and fold in the canvas when putting the beds up, but I thought I had seen on here where people are leaving them attached. Maybe that is only on the 2010s.
Anybody with a 2009 doing it?
It looks like you could and still fold it up fine.

RE: Trading a Jayco 23B for a Jayco 23J - your thoughts

I'm trying to figure out what makes the Jayco 23J a $23,000 camper when a Roo 23SS can't be more than $19,000 fully loaded. Oh, yeah, it's a Jayco! :R
-- Chuck
I chose between the two, so I did price out the Roo.
After you added in the options on the Roo that were already included on the Jayco it was close to the same price that I ended up paying.
Unless you are complaining about MSRP, which seems pointless as that is never what you actually pay anyway.

RE: Trading a Jayco 23B for a Jayco 23J - your thoughts

We have the 23J and love it. I'm sure you guys will as well.
And we have a 2009 Yukon XL with a 5.3l and pull it with no problem. We do use a 1000/10,000 Equalizer because of the soft suspension.
Honestly, I think you can do better on the price.
I was originally offered something similar (actually my offer was worse than yours), but the ACV (actual cash value) on the trade was half what it was worth (which it should be, they have to make money off it)
So I ended up keeping my trade and selling it outright for double what they were actually giving me on trade, and got them down to abour $20,000.00. (It actually cmae to $22,000.00, but I added about $2,000.00 in options between the equalizer hitch, the power jack, and a receiver attached to the rear)
The NADA value on your trade is ~$15,000.00 retail. I'll bet you could sell it to an individual for $13,500.00
