RE: containing a large dog outside the camper

We travel with a large dobie. The safest and easiest is an extra large crate. If your 120 pounder isn't use to one, slowly introduce him to one and increase time so he becomes comfortable and likes to stay in it.We have used this for our other dogs that we have had. One Rotweiler didn't like confusion and lots of folks around the house, so he would go into his crate when upset. He even preferred sleeping in it. Campgrounds are getting more restrictive on tied dogs, loose dogs, and dogs that bark too much. This solved our dobie problem.

RE: Vu Qube 1000 is a pain to use

Sorry you had problems. We use Direct TV with it.I have the 1000 and it is so easy.Set it NS by aligning carrying handle to NS direction. On direct TV chart find elevation. Start Turn on TV so you can hear signal meter and stand 10 ft at most away. Click L and Right and see if signal picks up fast beat. If not Click Elevation up or down a notch and repeat with LR arrows. If I pick it up I mark where legs were sitting and replace it on marks. No problems. Much easier than the new King control air dome which is automatic and takes forever to find sat. Take V cube on travels for use if tree canopy, etc so I get clear shot.

King-Dome Air in motion satelite

Has anyone installed this unit. I purchased one Oct 09. Camping World St. Augustine. The stationary one works fine but takes over 5 minutes to locate sat. In motion will not work correctly. It will come in for 10 sec and then go back into search. I just travelled 4 hr. on I 10 out of Jacksonville up to Savannah. Every 20 min or so it would come on for 5-10 sec and then start searching. I stopped twice to reset entire unit but got same results. View is clear and road fairly straight. I will put call into King Dome office this week to see if this is normal but would like input from someone who as this. Thankis. Ann anngeraghty@earthlink.net

RE: Is there a CG with a boat dock near Englewood FL (SW coast)?

Check water level there. Parts of Peace River can be really low and require canoes to drag or be carried at certtain times of year.A call to Riverside Resort may answer your question. Because of canoeing they may not permit motorized units.

RE: First long time trip

Have a great time. We are heading out in March for Washington State. Probably the I 10 route due to time of year. Never drove the Calif. coast road and looking forward to seeing new territory.

RE: Vaseline on Slide Seals??

There is a slide seal spray for the metal parts that I use and for the rubberish parts I use ammoral (sp) and do them when I treat the rubber around the windows, at least 3 times a year. Most of our travels are in south and west. At same time I treat the tires with the tire product. This has served us well for 3 motor homes. I haven't heard of anyone using vaseline. Happy travels with your new 5ver.

RE: Medical Permission Slips

I believe that even with a note, if the situation isn't life threatening, the mediccal personnel will contact the parents for verbal ok. I remember when this procedure was ok, but litigaion has changed all that.

RE: Smoke Alarm is Going Off!

I took mine done because I couldn't boil water without it going off. so I rely on my cats (not my dog) to get me up. Husband screaming if anything seems wrong. Yes, I will be out the back window with cats in a pillowcase, and a key in my hand to get front door open, dog can take care of herself is she can't get up. Yes I will drag husband out if it is within the60 seconds we have before everything explodes or melts. (a little humor is important in situations like this). All is important so everyone talks about escape routes and timing. Just because its expensive doesn't mean it will not catch fire and kill you. So you don't worry I have a new one to put up as a back-up to the cats.

RE: Smoke Alarm is Going Off!

Thanks so much, I was going crazy with mine. Finally just took it down. Now will try again and just remove it when I cook and then reinstall. Seems like RV manuf. could figure out a better more efficient systm but until them will do what i need to cook and not hear that scream.

RE: Elizabethan Collar for Cats

You have to just love cats. One look and you know what they are thinking. In spite of all the preventative meds they still need grooming, etc. Ours are 5 yr. now, monthly heartworm and fea med drops, Sporotic brushing, but they seem to do fine, no sores, no itching, it may be just their systems, but very healthy with little work. I feel some cats have more skin problems, allergies, just like people. What ever we get we have to take care of the kids. I am sure you are doing all you can do, and she is lucky to be with you.

RE: Setting up a new Dish Network tripod system

I gave up on that several years ago. Too much stress. I never got so frustrated, so tried automatic system and loved automatic sat systems, but since selling last unit I now use Vucube. Not perfect but simple and I know if I park under forest of trees don't bother, otherwise it sets up within 5 minutes. If I win lottery I will again go to automated system, hopefully with one that picks up local channels as well, heck, might as well go for in motion at that time, but for now. VuCube....

RE: Traveling with cat

We travel with 2 cats, at age 4 weeks started light harness on each. Picked them up by harness(easy and safe) then added light 4 ft. leash and let them drag that. Slowly started holding leash loosley and following cat. Apply gentle pressure to get cat to come (offer bribe) Moved to retractable leases and they know when I pick it up time to go out. Even when they are in car if not in crate I have short lease on them. If they get out it is easier to stomp on lease, or pull them back if they hide under another rv, etc. 5 yr. now and all well. They will always try to out maneuver and get loose. Mine love to travel.

RE: rescue assistance

Please reconsider and keep her. Our 3 rescued pets, 2 kittens, one doberman, were thrown out and they are terrific pets. Before radical decision maybe repost and list direction you might be traveling and someone may respond because you are coming their way. This country needs to step up and have pets spayed. Nothing is worse than to be in an RV park and see some dog that they have left wander around lost and trying to get into RVs. You can see the panic in their eyes. Of course, you know where they end up. Thank goodness you were there for the little one.

RE: online meds

Have you researched the meds at Walmart? They have some good values on generic drugs and I believe their pharmacy can fill anywhere you are if you have prescription at a Walmart.
